AKUS on CMT this Saturday

Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas will be the subject of this weekend’s edition of Total Access on the cable network Country Music Television (CMT). This program isn’t so much focused on live performance as it is a “backstage and offstage look” at the entertainers they profile – hence the name.

The band gave what they describe as unprecedented access to the CMT crew during their recent tour of England, Ireland and Scotland, and the show will draw on both group and individual interviews, as well as unscripted , documentary type footage of the band touring the UK. These are said to include pub visits, shopping trips and sight seeing outings in addition to some actual stage shows and backstage vignettes.

Oddly, the band indicates that the show covers their UK tour, while CMT’s web site says that the program is taken from a show date in Vancouver. Perhaps there will be multiple episodes of Total Access taken from the AKUS tour, and you might want to keep an eye on the show’s web site for future program info.

The one hour episode featuring Alison and the band is set to air on Saturday, December 10 at 8:00 p.m. (EST/PST).
