Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen in the studio

Frank Solivan II and his band, Dirty Kitchen, are in Nashville this week, recording a new CD at Brent Truitt’s studio. From the sound of it, the guys are having a great time recording, and we’re excited to hear the results.

Frank sent along the following report on their adventures in recording. We hope to be hearing from him again soon with another update. Think of this as a recording-log. Frank also included a link to a video on YouTube of the band getting to the studio and geared up for the work of recording. Enjoy…

Well our first couple of days here in Nashville have been quite fun. We got in late Saturday night and settled into our hotel… Sunday I got a call from Jesse Cobb of The Infamous Stringdusters. He invited us out to a local hang – The Gerst Haus – For some football, German food, and quality hang time with the Dusters. Kym Warner from the Greencards was there too. We all ended up pickin’ at Any Hall’s house later. They also invited us out to the Station Inn where they have a month long residency gig to sit in with them for a few numbers on the 27th of Jan.

Our first day in the studio was today (Monday). A great time with Brent Truitt… such a great guy and has ears the size of Texas… so to speak. Looking forward to finishing this record by next week. I’ll keep you updated.

We are going to have a few special guest appearances. Rob Ickes has confirmed he will be playing some resophonic guitar and Brent has talked to John Cowan about singing a couple of songs with me. All very exciting and humbling stuff going on for us.
